Machu Picchu Day Tour is an enigmatic way how to reach Incas city!

On Machu Picchu day tours from Cusco, you can appreciate the land spaces of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Sub-tropical flora and fauna as well as lovely sceneries closer to Machu Picchu! Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes (a small town just below Machu Picchu), you get on a tourist shuttle bus taking you just in front of the entrance of this unique Incan citadel!

There, you receive a guided tour of the so called “Lost City of the Incas”. Afterward, take some panoramic pictures of the antique Incan citadel with all the splendid landscape that surrounds it!! Then you can return to the citadel and explore this overwhelming citadel on your own!

To get to Machu Picchu, you just can choose one of the following train options: Expedition Class (standard), Vistadome Class (first class) or Hiram Bingham Class (Machu Picchu Luxury) operated by Peru Rail (a railway company), or Tourist Class (standard), Executive Class (more comfortable) or First Class (Luxury) operated by Inca Rail (another railway company).

Our visit to Machu Picchu begins with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco to take you to Poroy station (30 min bus journey).

We board the train to Aguas Calientes, along the way you will be able to see the beautiful landscapes, mountain ranges and all the incredible nature that surrounds the place. (Travel time by train 3 hours approx.)

Once we get to Aguas Calientes, our staff will be waiting at the train station to take you to the entrance of Machu Picchu on a bus.

At an agreed time with the guide, we begin the guided tour of the Machu Picchu Citadel through the main parts of the site. Afterwards there will be time to take pictures and explore the place on your own. (You choose the time to return to Aguas Calientes)

Once the tour is finished, we board the bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch.

What to take on the Machu Picchu Day Tour

Important recommendations

  • Passport Original and copies
  • Travel insurance(+ copies for a case of lost),
  • Cash in USD or credit cards,
  • Day pack (to carry your personal items during daily travels),
  • Rain gear (a rain-jacket and a waterproof trousers or a rain poncho – this can be purchased in Cusco),
  • Resistible footwear, waterproof trekking shoes are recommended,
  • Sandals (for a higher comfort while at a hotspring in Aguas Calientes),
  • Hat or a cap (to protect you against the Sun, rain as well as cold),
  • Sun cream or sun block,
  • After-sun cream or hydrating cream for face and body,
  • Insect repellent– recommended minimum is 20% DEET (please note that no malaria has been reported during this trip!),
  • Camera and its charger/batteries (please note that batteries are consumed quickly under cold conditions),
  • Small towel and toiletries,
  • Sufficient reserve of underwear,
  • Swimsuit (to visit the thermal baths of Aguas Calientes),

    Please note: we do provide a daily morning snack and our meal service is very complete and well supplied. The recommendation of taken own snack applies only for customers who like a specific snack that might not be in our menu.

Machu Picchu Entrance Hours

  • During the validity of the health emergency, the daily schedule of tourist visits to Machu Picchu starts at 6:00 am and ends at 4:00 pm.
  • There are 9 time ranges for visitors to enter the Machu Picchu citadel, the first time range is from 6:00 am to 7:00 am and the last from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
  • Visitors must board a shuttle bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, no later than 30 minutes before the time indicated on the relevant tickets.

Machu Picchu Tour Guide

The circuits for a tourist visit to the Inca Citadel are one-way and there are four defined circuits, the Machu Picchu guide will help you to give you more information:

1. Short High Circuit.
2. Long High
3. Short Low.
4. Long Low.

  • From reopening until further notice, visiting hours will not be held at the Inti Huatana (Solar Clock) and Templo del Cóndor (Condor Temple) complexes, while the Temple of the Sun will not be available at all for tourist visits.
  • Similarly, the alternative routes of the Machu Picchu citadel (Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains, Puente Inka and Inti Punku – Sun Gate) will not be available for tourists visits until further notice!
