Machu Picchu and Vinikunka Tour 5 Days

Pick up from your hotel to begin the Sacred Valley tour, a rich agricultural region and an important source of food for the Incas. Our first stop after 1.5 hours drive will be Pisaq to explore the ruins of a great Inca city. We continue to the town center to visit its famous traditional craft market.

Then we head for lunch to the city of Urubamba, considered the capital of the valley, to have a buffet lunch in one of its charming tourist restaurants that offer traditional Andean cuisine.

Next is Ollantaytambo, where our tour guide will lead us through the Inca fortresses and explain its function and history. The city and the forts are strategically located overlooking the beautiful valley.

We will board the train to Machu Picchu and spend the night. Our guide will meet you at your hotel to brief you about the next day.

Tourist Train: 16:36 hrs with the Inca Rail train company (Excellent time to enjoy the landscape during the train journey).

Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel to take the bus up to Machu Picchu early in the morning so you can explore this formidable architectural complex at a less crowded time. After a 2-hour guided tour, we recommend that you go up to Puerta del Sol (Sun gate) or Inti Punku (the arrival point for trekkers of the Inca Trail). You can also visit the Inca bridge, a secret entrance on the west side of the citadel from Machu Picchu during the golden age of the Incas.

We take the bus back to Aguas Calientes to enjoy an exquisite lunch (not included). You can explore the small town or bathe in the hot springs of the city and then head to the station to board the Expeditions train that departs at 6:20p.m, arriving at 8:30p.m at Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our staff will be waiting with a sign with your name on to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

The walk to Rainbow Mountain: The adventure begins very early, around 04:30 am. We will pick you up at your hotel and drive for 2 ½ hours to the picturesque town of Cusipata, south of Cusco, where we can buy some snacks, mineral water, cereal, etc…

Next, we walk through beautiful landscapes of multicolored crops that mix between the Andean mountain range and snow-capped mountains. We might even be able to see Andean animals such as the llama, alpaca, sheep and vicunas. At the starting point of our walk we will enjoy a delicious Andean breakfast with the local people. After our meal we continue our hike for 1 ½ hours up the mountain. Once we reach the top, we begin our descend to the checkpoint along the slopes of the Vinicunca hill

The colors of the landscape will begin to intensify and we’ll be surrounded by small streams of icy water that nourish and give life to this valley. As we walk, the weather will start to change along with the vivid colors. The summit of the mysterious Rainbow mountain (Vinikunka) is 5033 meters above sea level.

There will be plenty of time to take photos, videos and enjoy some snacks in this impressive panoramic view. Then, we will walk back to the starting point of the trek and have some lunch in a small town. We return to Cusco at approximately 18:00 hours.
