At 9:30p.m we begin the city tour. We start at the Plaza de Armas and visit the famous cathedral. Next, we take a walk through an ancient street built by the Incas followed by Qoricancha, the temple of the sun, a place with noticeable differences in the construction methods used by the Incas and the Catholics.
Afterwards we travel by bus to the outskirts of the city (25 min) to the majestic Inca site Sacsayhuaman, where we will enjoy a guided tour.
We continue to Qenqo, another ceremonial place dedicated to Pachamama (Mother Earth). This is a natural formation that the Incas carved and adapted to carry out their ceremonies with a very complex architectural work. After is Puka Pukara, a small circular Inca site. We finish in Tambomachay, the temple dedicated to water.
We return the Plaza de Armas (Cusco’s city center) in the afternoon.
On the second day, pick up is at 7am from your hotel to head towards the Sacred Valley. On the way, we stop at Taray viewpoint to enjoy a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley. Next are the Pisaq ruins with hundreds of terraces for agriculture where the Incas grew corn, potatoes and quinoa. Here you will be able to learn about the religious and astronomical Inca studies.
Then, we descend to the traditional handicraft market.
In Urubamba you will have the opportunity to taste some of the local delicacies during our buffet lunch. Afterwards we drive to Ollantaytambo, an Inca checkpoint that protected Machu Picchu against any enemy. This is the best example of an untouched village, with its water canals running through the picturesque streets of the city. The tour guide will direct you to the Ollantaytambo station to board the train to Machu.
From here, we return to Cusco. Overnight in the hotel.
Early pick up from your hotel to Ollantaytambo station (1hr 40 min journey). The train will go through breathtaking landscapes of the Peruvian Andes. Our guide will be waiting to take the bus up to the sanctuary of Machu Picchu (duration 20 min).
