Cusco City Tour

The city tour starts with the pick up from your hotel at 1.00pm to visit the following tourist places:

Cusco’s cathedral- Also known as the Church of the Holy Family.

After visiting the most important ruins that Cusco has to offer, we go to the great temple of the sun, known as the Qoricancha or Golden Enclosure, located a few meters from the Plaza de Armas (the city center). This wonderful spot is considered one of the most sacred and impressive Inca constructions. It is said that it housed a large select group of priests, in charge of worshiping the moon and the sun Gods. According to the chronicles, when the conquerors arrived at Qoricancha, there were so many golden ornaments, jewels, even the walls were covered with solid gold, that it took them weeks to melt everything to send it to Spain.

Next is Sacsayhuaman, an imposing Inca fortress located in the north of the city. It is one of the most significant archaeological legacies due to its enormous construction, made out of huge stone blocks. It’s believed that it took about 50 years and 20,000 men to build. Later we continue to the ruins of Qenqo, cold caves carved by the Incas with a small altar where they supposedly mummified their dead. We finish at Tambomachay, a beautiful site to see water that emerges from a hill towards some fountains built by the Incas. It is thought that in here the emperor used to take his baths and perform religious water cults.
