We will meet at the hotel at 1:00p.m to start the Cusco’s city tour with its historical monuments, such as the Plaza de Armas (main square), called in Inca times Huacaypata or Plaza del Guerrero (Warrior’s Plaza) which was the scene of various key events in the history of Cusco.

Cusco Cathedral: Located in the Plaza de Armas. It was built on top of the ancient temple of Suntur Wasi (House of God), known today as “The Church of Triumph“. The highlights of this place are the paintings by important artists and work on embossed silver, the choir, the pulpit, the wood carvings on altars and furniture by Martin Torres and Melchor Huaman
Qoricancha: We continue by foot from the Plaza de Armas through an Inca street towards the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo, a Spanish construction on the Inca temple of Qoricancha or Temple of the Sun. Qoricancha (in Quechua “golden enclosure”), was the main religious building of the Incas dedicated to the worshiping of the sun. The interior walls, according to the chronicles, were covered with sheets of gold.

Sacsayhuaman: Next, we visit the archaeological sites located on the outskirts of the city. Sacsayhuaman is a cyclopean masonry fortress from the Inca period. It was built on three superimposed platforms that have an average of 360 m.
Tambomachay: 7 km from Cusco, known as the Inca baths, it is considered a place of worship to water.
Qenqo: 3 km from Cusco, it’s believed that it was used as a shrine. There are passages, channels, stairways and a huge stone block of 5.90m. high all resembling a puma
Puka Pukara: 6 km from Cusco. It was an administrative and military center formed by platforms, stairways, passages, towers and niches.
